Bahrain cleric warns normalizing ties with Israel annihilates Islamic unity

MANAMA: Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassem has issued a statement warning that the normalization of ties with the Israeli regime has targeted the Islamic thought and Muslim nation, reported by local media.­­­
 
Top Bahraini cleric in part of his statement noted,” It is clear that normalization of relations with Israeli regime is happening in line with the annihilation of the interests and Islamic unity” and added,” Though its most important target is the Islamic thoughts, conscience, and manner of the Muslims so that they shake the origins of Islam.”
 
Ayatollah Qassem also said,” Enemies intend to turn the Islamic nation into Jewish-Zionist society and distance with the religion of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
He called on the Muslim nation to either stand silent on the intrigue or make its best to resist the normalization efforts.

Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Ahmed Qassim is Bahrain’s leading Shia cleric and a politician. He is the spiritual leader of Al Wefaq, Bahrain’s biggest opposition society. He is the founder and leader of the Islamic Enlightenment Institution.

Under the Abraham Accords, Bahrain and Israel signed an agreement to normalize diplomatic and other relations between the two countries. The agreement was announced by President Donald Trump on September 11, 2020, and followed by a joint statement, officially referred to as the Abraham Accords, by the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 13, 2020. It was formally signed on September 15, 2020, at the White House in Washington, D.C., and made Bahrain the fourth Arab state to recognize Israel and the second within a month.
