Kuwait bans Hollywood movie over Gal Gadot

KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait bans new Hollywood film “Death on the Nile”. The film is adaptation of Agatha Christie’s whodunnit with a cast of Hollywood stars including Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

Death on the Nile is mystery thriller film,movie release date delayed several times from its initial December 20, 2019 to February 11, 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and sexual abuse allegations against Hammer.

The movie is ban in Kuwait. Kuwaiti cinemagoers will not be watching the movie on cinema, information ministry spokeswoman Anouar Mourad said, the decision was taken following demands on social media for the film to be banned.

Social media users criticising to the actress Gal Gadot. She used to praise of the Israeli army and criticizing Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas during the 2014 war in Gaza. The Israeli actress is best known for the lead role in the 2017 Hollywood blockbuster “Wonder Woman” which was also banned in some Arab countries. Gal Gadot has frequently come under criticism on social media because she used to give mandatory service in Israeli army.
