ANTIGUA: India’s dominance in the Under-19 World Cups continues as the Boys in Blue entered in the fourth consecutive U19 World Cup Final. India defeated Australia by 96 runs and secured their place.
India will now face England in the final who defeated Afghanistan in the other semi-final. The final match will be played on February 5.
Yash Dhull became the only third captain (after Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand) to score a hundred in the World Cup. He scored 110 runs in as many balls and was part of a solid 204 runs partnership with Shaik Rasheed for the third wicket as Rasheed also scored 94 runs and made sure that India reaches a consolidating 290 runs.
Australia looked unstable right from the beginning of the chase. Ravi Kumar struck for India in the second over of the match. There was a small partnership of 67 runs for the second wicket. Australia did not recover after that and kept falling behind the required rate and kept losing wickets one after another\.
After winning the match, captain Yash Dhull said, “The idea was to bat steadily, not to try too many shots, and to bat past the 40th over. Myself and Rasheed bat well together, we combine well and it showed. Rasheed and I had a good partnership and we had good partnerships lower down as well.”
