PSL 7 to begin on January 27 in Karachi

KARACHI: The seventh variation of Pakistan super league is all set to commence on Thursday facing the defending champion Multan Sultan will take on Karachi Kings at Karachi’s iconic National Stadium.

According to Pakistan cricket board announced, Quetta gladiator with Peshawar Zalmi will against each other in the second match of the PSL League on the next day.

However, Babar Azam who played commendably at the T20 innings in the year between 2020 and 2021 will serve and lead Karachi Kings in today’s face-off. On contrary, Muhammad Rizwan, the first ever highest scorer in the T20 innings of year 2020-21 will lead Multan Sultan, announced by Pakistan Cricket Board.

“I am very excited to be leading Karachi Kings this season. This is the first instance that I will be captaining aside in the PSL and I am looking forward to it,” said Babar Azam.

He further said,”Peter Moores is a seasoned coach and I have had fruitful discussions with him. Karachi Kings will display good, competitive cricket this season.”

The first match of the tournament always draws a large crowd, and Multan Sultans may be a formidable opponent. “I am confident that the spectators will see an exciting battle,” he added.

Muhammad Rizwan said, “We have every chance to defend our PSL championship, and we’ll go into tomorrow’s game with that mindset.” We’ll have new problems this season, and we’ll have to prepare properly.”

The two times champion Islamabad United will be in action on Sunday 30, January when they will lock horns with Peshawar Zalmi as well as the evening match will be played between arch-rivals Kings and Qalandars, said PCB’s press release.

Lahore Qalandars will lead by the versatile bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi although Islamabad United, captained by Shadab Khan, Quetta Gliadiators will be led by Sarfaraz Ahmed while Peshawar Zalmi will host by Wahab Riaz.

After 15 matches in Karachi till February 7, the action moves to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where the remaining 15 league matches and four play-offs will take held from February 10-27.

“The PCB has organized the 2022 tournament such that each team would play an equal number of matches in Karachi and Lahore, as well as games under natural and artificial lighting,” according to a press statement from the board.
