Micro smart lockdowns imposed in Karachi, Peshawar


KARACHI/PESHAWAR: Aadministration of South and Central districts in Karachi have imposed micro lockdowns in nine hotspots in their jurisdiction on Tuesday as part of arrangements to contain the spread of the coronavirus infection during the fifth wave.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of South said in a notification that micro smart lockdown imposed in the areas of 8 different hotspots of Garden, Saddar and Civil Lines sub division on the recommendation of District Health Officer (DHO) as number of corona active case has a number of 402 till January 24.

Local down will remain imposed until active cases come down to zero, DC added.   

While DC Central also imposed Micro Smart lock down the hotspots of Gulberg, Liaquatabad, Federal B Area, New Karachi and North Nazimabad areas till February 5.

All the public gatherings will be banned and SOPs will be strictly followed, DC’s notification said.    

In Peshawar Smart lockdown has also imposed in eight different COVID-19 hotspots of the city.

The areas where the COVID-19 restrictions have been announced include Hayatabad Phase 4, Hazar Khawani, Gulbahar No. 4, Dilla Zak Road and Warsak Road, according to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar.

Shops of essential items like food and medicines, and emergency services will remain open. Exit and entry points will remain blocked in these areas during the smart lockdown.

“Under the restrictions no general entry or exit to this locality by any person, except those supplying essential commodities, shall be allowed. All types of gatherings within these localities are strictly prohibited,” says the notification.
