Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah laid the foundation stone for the restoration work of 6th century’s Sehwan Fort on Saturday.
Sehwan fort was built from the End of the 5th century to 6th century and its restoration has started by Eendowment eund trust.
Sehwan Fort is 1.27 kilometer long and 15 meter high. In the 326 BC Alexzander the Great become victorious by defeating 80,000 military personnel of Raja Sambos, in 712 BC, Muhammad Bin Qasim freed the fort from Governor Bajeera of Raja Dahir white 1026 BC Mehmood Ghaznavi became victories.
Mughal Emperor, Himayun in 1541, also tried to won the fort, but couldn’t succeeded later on the Army Chief of King Akber, Abdul Rahim Khan defeated the Khanan Mirza Jani Baig and Sindh gone under control of Mughals.
In 1701, Mughals used the fort as an important point against emerging power of Kalhoros, but later handed over to them who shifted the capital to Hyderabad so Sehwan and fort became dilapidated condition.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction on the performance of EFT as Naukot Fort resort earlier and also worked for environmental protection on Rannikot by it.
I am sure that protection work on Rannikot had to be difficult, but it had been completed. Now to save it campaigning is also a hard work, CM added.
He said, with Mysterious history Sehwan Fort is a real challenge, he hailed that EFT didn’t ask any financial help for them from the govt. Sehwan is country’s oldest city and it’s history is centuries old too, but unfortunately didn’t give much attention to Sindh inheritance. Provincial govt makes arrangements to protect cultural and historic inheritance. we need funds, foreign assistance and historic links as well as documents, our scholars, historians and cultural organizations need to be put their recommendations to the govt as suggestions needs to be listed in the cultural sector.
Murad said, we need natural sensitivity for our cultural values and a goal should be set for future policies too. This is time to collect art, culture and history of Sindh and make a technique to inform and guide to young generations. Youth should provide training so they would get chances of employment in EFT, Culture Department as experts, CM maintained.
CM also suggested to hold an international conference for Sehwan and Alexzander at the beginning of new year and asked EFT to plan and suggest a committee for the conference. We support this project, He added,
Eendowment fund trust officials, local social and political personalities and officials of cultural department also among the participants of the ceremony.
