Taliban releases critics Prof Faizullah Jalal

Family of the renowned Afghan professor, Faizullah Jalal informed about his release though social media on Wednesday.

Last Saturday, Taliban taken Professor Jalal in to custody on charges of issuing inflammable statements on Tweeter and shifted him to unknown destination.

Professer Jalal’s daughter, Haseena Jalal confirmed his release on tweeter. She wrote in her tweet, “I confirmed Dr Jalal has been released after 4 days of detention on baseless charges.”

Hassena is a fellow of George Town University USA and she started a campaign on social media for his father’s release.

His wife, Masooda said in his Facebook post on Saturday, “Taliban extremists taken his husband with then towards an unknown destination.”

Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid told in a tweet that Dr Jalal is trying to provoke people against their regime through his statements on tweeter.  He has been arrested so others wouldn’t issue these kinds of statements, He further said.

On the other hand, family was saying, tweeter account Taliban is quoting doesn’t belong to Dr Jalal. Hassena said, she contacted to tweeter on January 5th and told them that her father never active on this platform.

People started to raise voices in favor of Dr Jalal as news of his arrest spread. Many condemned the arrest and demands immediate release.

Dr Faizullah Jalal is the critics of Afghan Govt as in the past he openly criticized the policies of former presidents Hamid Karzai and Ashraf Ghani.

During November last year, he also criticized Taliban policies during a live tv show and saying “Cow Calf” to a Taliban spokesman Muhammad Naeem. In Afghanistan saying “Cow Calf” to some one taking as highly misbehave.
