Pakistran stresses for early mechanism of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Military Advisor of Saudi Defense Ministry, Maj Gen Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ in Rawalpindi on Monday.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), During the meeting, Chief of Army Staff assured the envoy that Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with Kingdom of Saudi Aribia and also acknowledges its value in the Muslim world.

ISPR said, Gen Bajwa stressed the urgency for swiftly devising an institutional mechanism for channelling humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan

The ISPR said, Al-Otaibi, discussed matters related to mutual interest, regional security situation, the current situation in Afghanistan, and bilateral defence relations between the two countries were discussed. COAS underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.

The Saudi adviser acknowledged the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed forces and vowed to enhance cooperation in various fields. He also appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghan situation and special efforts for border management, role in regional stability, ISPR added.
