All limelight for Maryam at son Junaid’s wedding

LAHORE: During the wedding festivities of her son Junaid Safdar, the PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz’s stylish clothing and vocal ability drew a lot of attention.

Even social networking sites was buzzing over Maryam Nawaz’s outfits, with much of the conversation centered on her rather than on the bride or the groom.

A lot of onlookers made comparison of the event with the recently-held wedding of Bollywood celebrities Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal who tied knot in Rajasthan, India. The wedding of Katrina and Vicky was widely publicized, and news about Katrina’s lehenga from wedding photos was eagerly searched on the internet.

Maryam Nawaz’s dress, and her singing made a similar buzz on the internet this side of the border. The wedding is now being discussed throughout Pakistan, and photos of the event have gone viral on the internet.

Maryam Nawaz looked diva in an emerald green design worked with delicate pink florals by famous Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari.

The nikah ceremony was held in London at Lanes Borough, an elite five-star hotel on the Hyde Park Corner in Knightsbridge, a couple of months ago which she and husband Capt. (retd) Safdar were unable to attend because they were in Pakistan and their names were on exit control list.

Nawaz Sharif, Junaid’s maternal grandfather and three times former prime minister was unable to attend the event in Lahore in person but joined the celebrations through video link from London.

After a week-long pre-wedding festivities, a grand baraat ceremony was held in Islamabad on 14 Dec which was also attended by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif.

Junaid Safdar’s traditional sherwani and kulla was designed by Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, as his attire went viral on social media.

Maryam Nawaz took to Instagram to communicate her sentiments when she said, “The happiest moments of my life, Masha’Allah” along with a post of Junaid Safdar beside her.
